IMPORTED FARM WORKERS.
HOW THE .AUSTRALIAN FARMER GETS THEM. In view of the discussion at the Farmers' Union Conference concerning the importation of farm labourers, it will be interesting to note what is done in New South Wales. The whole of tho assisted immigrants who
reach 'New South Wales pass through the hands of tho officers of-tho Intelligence Department, by whom they are placed in employment without delay. Every possible caro is taken to keep farmers.-.and-others constantly informed 'of ,tlie'.fact;,that competent farm labourers may at.'any, time "bo!obtained by. applying to the Department. . Every police officer in tho. Stato has been, informed that the Department can. supply farm labourers from Great Britain ,to those .desiring tile same, :and .they. have.been instructed to take every. opportunity of bringing ■ this information under the notice of settlers.' Tho Department invite correspondence from those .in. need .of 'farm hands. All that is necessary to enable them to obtain satisfactory farm helpers is to send timely notico to the Intelligence .Department. Desirable immigrants aro arriving from Great Britain by almost every vessel, and very little delay occurs in satisfying the applications, dozens of which" are addressed'to'the Department :from the country-districts every week.
