PALMERSTON.
Mr. C. Revell, who is now engaged on a tour collecting funds for tho widow of tho lata Mr. Alex. Webster of Petone, recently, killed by a railway accident, visited Palmerston yesterday, with the result that a good number of names wore added to the subscription list. Ho also met somo of the members of the local amateur dramatic, society, who recently performed here and at Feilding, under the direction of Mr. J. Howard, and they have agreed to give a bonofit performance in Petone on Wednesday next, provided their services are accepted. Tho River Conference Committee will meet to-day, when important business will bo discussed. The Manawatu Golf Club's.annual tournament will be held from September 1 to 4. Tho Governor will open the Art Society's exhibition on September 9.
