At their, last meeting the City Council granted the Kaikorai Band permission to hold sacred concerts on Sunday nights with a view to. raising funds' to help them to meet the expenses of taking part in the Ballarat competitions. Subsequently a large deputation. representing the Council , of the Churches, which also included the Primate (Bishop Nevill), waited on the Mayor to pro. test against the Council's action. Councillor. Smith has given notice to move, at to-mor. row night's meeting of the Council, that ths motion*lie rescinded, and it is stated by the "Star" to-night'that a pricking of the card indicates that the previous resolution of tli" Council will in all probability bo rescinded.
