HER HUSBAND OBTAINS A DECREE NISL
•In tho Divorce Court, Melbourne, on August 3,'before'Mr? Justice Hodges, Barnett Breslau, of M'Gregor Street, Middle Park, tailor's outter, aged 32, petitioned for a divorce' from,his, ,: .'wife','' Cefia'.'Rosabella Ethel Breslau, otherwise Miss Celia Ghiloni, tho well-known actress, aged 29, on. the. grounds of desertion. ' The parties .were', married in March, : 1898,"at the 'District Registrar's Office, Perth, and there was no issue of marriage. '' Petitioner, in his affidavit, stated thai theatrical; engagements kept' respondent out late at night, and she had to travel in various States of the Commonwealth, which led to quarrels and unpleasantness between them. He tried to persuade her to leave the stage; but she refused to do so. There were frequent quarrels owing to her refusal. " About March 4, 1905, respondent went to New Zealand, stating that she would not live with petitioner again, as his objection to her stage career had-causcd her such unhappiness that she was determined to mako tho most of her abilities on the stage, and that she preferred the stage to life at home. Petitioner, subsequently, on several-occasions tried to persuade his wife to live with him, but she refused. She had gone to. London. Counsel for petitioner read a letter from respondent, in which she said, "Apart from our incompatibility of temper my professional demands quite preclude the idea'of my living with you again." His Honour granted a decree nisi.
