■ So far the winter has been a remarkably mild one and the weather lately lias been quite spring-like. Mr. S. W. Carter has sold his stallion Ivanhoe to Mr. Hall of Palmerston North. Mr. Trower of the railway station staff has been transferred to Wellington. Mr. Norman Smith has been appointed porter in his place. Miss Thelma Hemingson met with a nasty accident on Sunday, severing an artery with a piece of glass. Miss Hemingson was driven to Levin for medical attendance. Father Melu, of Otaki, officiated at Mass in the Catliolic Church on Sunday morning. Yesterday Father Melu officiated at Mass at Tokomaru. Mr. H. Grieg will be starting his flax mills this week, two at Foxton and two at Tokomaru.
