THE HAWEA OVERDUE.
FOURTEEN DAYS FROM NEWCASTLE. A SEARCH ARRANGED. (BY TELEGRAPH—rRESS ASSOCIATION.) Gis'oornc, August 10. Tho Union Company's steamer Hawea is now a fortnight out from Newcastle to this pprt. It is feared she must liavo broken down. . The Flora leaves Auckland to-day to search towards Newcastle for tlic Hawea. The Haupiri has been instructed to zigzag from tho East Capo towards Cape Maria Van Diemeu.
Dunodin, August 10. If the Flora sees nothjng of tho Hawca before reaching Capo Maria, she will zig-zag across to Newcastle.
Tho Haupiri has been instructed to proceed from East Cape, and make a zig-zag search up as far as Three Kings, and on reaching there to report to Capo Maria. Tho Wimmora, leaving Auckland to-day, and the Moaun, sailing from Sydney on Wednesday for Auckland, will keep a look-out, and if necessary the Moana will t.iko extra time for tho passage. Tho Rakanoa will leave Auckland on Wednesday, and will spend three days' extra time on tho passage. No anxiety is felt as to the ultimate safety of tho Hawea, as she is well found anil stored. Tho recent heavy weather has probably caused some of her machinery to break down.
