SPRING NOVELTIES.
; Every year the little accessories that go towards making the simplest and most unpretentious frock effective, _grow prettier and daintier. Wo aro apt to think that nothing can: possibly bo bettor than . what- we have been seeing, but when the new things aro laid out for our inspection the fallacy of that conviction is realised. At ono time it was thought, that if a woman wore good and perfectly fitting gloves and shoes sho could defy criticism—every defect being redeemed. by them. Now wo have gone further than that —neckwear and belts receiving a very large sharo of attention. To describe tho new neckwear would fill a column, so varied and charming has it become. - .Somo of the newest silk ties are very narrow, having tasselled ends and a corded ring in tho middle through which tho other half passes, keeping it neatly together at the throat. Others, again, widen out considerably at tho ends, finishing with a most effective Paisley pattern border. Perhaps some of the, prettiest aro of ,silk of delicate shades', throat with goffered ends standing out quite' stiffly and bordated' ■vf'itli. 1 a' 'different 1 cblou'r to that of the tie'itself, The ones made of muslin edged with fine lace are exceedingly soft and dainty looking, tho Greek koy pattern being much used for the long c'eritr.e-pieco down the front to which goffered frills are attached. Gold and silver thrcadwork is much in ovidence whero belts are concerned, other colours'being brought' in. Some of tho.belts are of white kid with, an edging of tiny pink roses . worked in : silk and are exceedingly pretty. Many, again, aro of coloured suedo bordered with plaited gold thread, and others are very wide at the back, narrowing into a pointed front with a large gilt bucklo. Hat pins grow larger and larger, and eventually tho hat itself will be quite a secondary consideration, all importance being attached to tho pin. To, look at them they scorn like huge sugared lollies of all possible colours, shapes, and sizes. Rather a good idea for children is'the cumfee cliin strap, made of elastic, with a tiny buckle close to where it is fastened to the hat, _so that tho • clastic can be let out or drawn, in as wanted.
