MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Tlio monthly meeting of tho Makara County Council was held on Saturday,' thero being present: Councillors Hawkins (Chairman), Monk, Eastwood, Moore, . Haggerty, alia Bryant.
Accounts amounting t0£332 2s. 3d. wore passed for payment. It was decided that Mr. C. S. Eajjle be appointed roadman for tho Makara Riding; Mr. J. Thompson, of Tawa Flat, was appointed ranger, at a salary of £30 per annum. Mr. E. Mcxted was granted permission to crcct a gale across, the road on his pro-' perty, subject to his complying with tlu- usual regulations. Councillors Bryant, Haggerty, and Moore wore deputed to wait upon Mr. H.. Field, M.P. for tho district; and urge upon hiui the necessity of obtaining a grant, from . the Government, of £100, wherewith to carry out tho work of connecting tho roads in tho Hawtroy Estate, with those in the JohnsonviDo Town District.
