The Government engineer has ' completed a.flying.survey-of'f«q-proposed railway lino to Martinborough from Featherston. • His report is.to be sent-in to,the Minister for' Railways at an early date. A number of suggested routes were gono over, and it is understood that the engineor favours tho line froin ; Featherston to Ward's, at tho back of the' Tauherinikau racecourse, thence over thW ;Tauerinikau River in an almost and ievel line to Bidwills 'Hill, Tawalia, after which the''road will lead'.oyer tho Ruamaliariga River on to Martinborough on a grado of l in : 6o. ' The Government engineer is toreport'.on tho proposed track over tho Tararuas connecting Groj-town ,with Otaki.
