Tho damage to tho building is estimated . at £400, fully covered by insurance in tho New Zealand Company. Tho premises of Misses Moss and .Sorenscn and Mr. Bray's office sustained slight .damage. DWELLING-HOU.SE DESTROYED. Holson, July 31. An unoccupied five-roomed houso m Trafalgar Street South was burnt down this morning. • Tho origin of the fire is a mystery, and the police are inquiring. The house was owned by Mr. George Elisor, now in England. No one had been living in tho place for months, but furniture was stored there, and was all destroyed. Tile insurances woro £100 / on tho house and £150 on tho furniture, both in tho South' British. : A small outbreak of fire in a coal locker at tho Empire Hotel was responsible for tho • Fire Brigade being called out at-4:48 yester- • day afternoon. By the time tho Brigade arrived on the spot the employees of the hotel had extinguished the outbreak with tho fire extinguishing plant connected with the building.
