TO-DAY'S CONTEST: ARNST v. PEARCE. (HI TELEOKiI'H—PBKS3 ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGIIT.) (Rec. July 31, 9.30 p.m.) ! , Sydney, July 31. Much interest is being manifested in the Arnst-Pearco race to-morrow, in view .of Arnst's engagement with the champion, Webb. Both men have put in a • lot of training, and it is reported that they have, attained tip-top condition. A hard struggle is expected. The weather conditions are unpromising, frequent drenching showers continuing, with no signs of clearing. It is.oxpected that Pearce (Australia) will row at about 12st. 71b. and Arnst (New Zealand) at 13st. The former lias had i the services of Mitchell as pacemaker, whilst tlie latter has been assisted by Fogwoil, who was recently defeated by Thoroughgood for the championship of Australia. Arnst has signed articles to meet Webb, champion of tile world, on the Wanganui River, in December next.' ■
