(DY TET.EGKAT'n —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Oamaru, July 30. The South Island Coursing Club's Maiden Stakes was run to-day in fine weather before a limited number of spectators. Only a small mitry had boon received, but sovcral outside dogs were present, two of tho three that ran into tho filial being nominated by a Hawko's Bay owner. Tho oarlior rounds were not. interesting, and at 'tho end of three rounds duly Paddy,. Tho Pointer, Goldsjpur, and.Asqra'sia were left in, the last-named having tho bye.. Goldspuf was jeasfc fancied of the three,' but ho developed an unexpected turn of speed, and successively beat the two North Island dogs, annexing the first prize foi* llr.-J. Ward, of Oamaru (his owner), with Aserasia (owned/ by Mr. M. I3reon, Hawko's 13ay) as runner-up.
