HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE.
The moving picture seems permanently established in favour, and when it is considered that tho Royal Pictures havo been showing nightly for eight- months at His Majesty s Theatre, it seems that they havo a just claim for popularity, for it goes without saying that tho public would not so heartily support a tho*tro uuless the programme provided was meritorious. Last nignt the weekly change was made, and tho pictures'submitted were of a high class. The programme was a well-selected one, and should suit tho taste of patrons. A striking picture is that oi the Uiblieal subject- "Samson." It is iinely coloured, and elaborate sconicjeffects and gorgeous dressing adds to tho unfolding of the story ol' Kamson and Delilah. Loud applauso : was bestowed upon it. ,Another lino film is that of "Dora: a Rustic Idyll," an adaptation of Tennyson's poem, the theme o'oing followed. "A Mother's Crimo'' is or pathetic nature, full of touching incidents. There aro several others of a dramatic nature. Tho comic section is repleto with pictures of the trick and chaso order, "The Dancing Legs," "The Pumpkin llacc," "Turning tlio Tables," beins notablo ones. "Tho 3uchanted Guitar" and "Scenic Sicily" were also' interesting subjects. The programme will be repeated this evening.
A most, onjoyablo concert, arranged by a party from H.Mij. Encounter, with tho kmd permission of Captain Fyler, commander, was given at St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown, under the auspices of tho Good Templars' Lodge, last evening.' The hall was crowded, tho programme was an excellent one, and tho audience was appreciative. A grand Scottish concert was given in O'Donnoll's Hall, Kilbirnic, last evening, in aid of funds for a bowling green for tho local club. A number of Kilbirnio residents, recognising that tho time was ripo for tho establishment of a good green in tho district, have set to work to raise guilds, and the concert last night marked the initial olfort towards tho realisation of tho project. The major portion of tho programme was contributed by tho' Scottish Choral Society and Orchestra, under tho .direction of Mr. John M'Glashan. Solo items were contributed by Mrs. Higginson, Mrs. Pauling, and Messrs. J. R.. M'Lean, J. M'Glashan, and W. Brown. Tho accompaniments wero plaj'cd by Miss Paul.
