At the annual mobting of the Auckland Master Butchers'' Association tho following resolution was unanimously carried :—" That this meoting enter's its most emphatic protest against the -recommendations of tho special Board of Conciliation in connection with tho tramways dispute,'and contends that tho precedent thus established, whereby tho Company mus't.'in future givo satisfactory, reasop to every employee for his discharge, is contrary to all known usages, , and will undoubtedly be the means of greatly, restricting tho investment of capital in, tho industries of the Dominion, aiid, furthermore, that it willi have the effect of tending to destroy that peace and harmony between employers and employees which'ls so essential to tho welfare of every business." • • A THRILLING EXPERIENCE. i - Chrlstchurch, July 28. Passengers by the West Coast coach, from Otira on Monday met with a thrilling experience. Tho swingle-tree of ono of the loading horses broke, and later tho drivor was thrown from tho. box. Ho fell between tho two shatters; iand was unable to regain 'his seat. The horses, finding themselves practically free, i commenced to gallop, but had only gone yards when ono of tho leaders folli stopping tho coach, and bringing tho other "horses "to a standstill, There were five passengers, • but, fortunately, no ono was hurt. If tho coach had proceeded about another twenty yards, it is stated that 'the result would probably have been sorious.
