The Blue Squadron, comprising the (Jhannol Fleet, under Admiral Lord Charles Beresford, nttacked Great Britain. The Ked Squadron, comprising the Homo Fleet, under Admiral Francis Bridgeman, defended. There was a great tactical struggle for the mastery of the North Sea. Admiral Boresford's Blue Squadron failed to prevent a junction of two portions of the defending Ked Squadron, and Admiral Beresford retired to his base. It is, liowevor, considered that, having had command of tho sea for sixty-two hours, and complete charge of tho shipping therein, tho Blue Squadron had the best of the deal.
