LEPER PATIENTS.
NEW REMEDY TRIED. (BT TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Cliristcliiirch, July 27. Dr. Mason, Chief Health Officcr, 'arrived from Wellington yesterday, and spent most" of the day at Quail Island. Ho states that both leper patients are extremely comfortable, and as contented as tho distressing nature of their circumstances ivill permit. A fow months ago Dr. Mason noticed that the discovery of a new remedy fqr leprosy had been made by Professor Dcyckc Pasha, and immediately cabled Homo for a supply. Tho remedy is known as Nastiu 15., and fs being injected under the supervision of Dr. Upham. Since its use lias been commenced, Dr. Mason says a great improvement in the condition of both patients is noticeable. The Maori youth particularly has made splendid progress towards recovery. Dr. Mason loaves for Tiinuru to-day, and goes on as far as Dunodin, returning to Wellington towards the end of tho current week.
