Following aro' additional results in connection with tho Olympic Games: — 1800 Metre (1966.3yd5.) Flat Race. Sir. W. Sheppard (America) won this ovont in 4min. 52sec.—an Olympic record. Last week, Slieppard, who is considered to be the best runner between half a .mile and two miles that America has produced, won the 1500 metre contest in record time. At the " tryouts" at Philadelphia on .Tune 6, Sheppard won the 800 metre (574 yds.) race after an exciting struggle in linin. 54sec., which"is,2sec. better than the Olympic record. Tho speediest British runner over tho distance is probably G. Butterfield, who has won the mile race at the English amateur championships for the last four years. In 1906 he covered the milo /in 4min. 18 2-ssec. Unlike the majority of Americans, Sheppard does not pay any particular attention to training, but keeps'"himself in condition by running practically all the year round. He is sft. Baxter (America) at the Games at Paris in 19(10. The hest effort in this event at Athens in 190G was that of Con Leahy (Ireland), who clcared sft. lljin.
