' Within a month the steam trawler that is being built at Cokatoo Island to tho order of tho Commonwealth Government may bo •launched (says the "Sydney Morning Herald"). Sir William Lyne; paid a visit of-inspection io the island on Saturday afternoon, and was very pleased alike with the progress made and with- the lines of the new vessel. The accommodation to be provided on her, ho said, would be of the plain and serviceable order, and would certainly' not be in excess of 'requirements. Tho estimated cost of the trawler is ,£12,000. Some additional particulars concerning the collision between the mail steamer .Asturias and the New Zealand Shipping Company's Rakaia have just. been received (says tho " Sydney Commercial News"). It appears the mishap happened off the Island of l-'loies on June 5, while the lh-st-nanied vessed was lying there during'-'u fog.- The blow was a sliding one, and the Asturias was struck on the port quarter, and sustained damage above the water line. The Rakia had her hawse pipe bow-plates and two frames damaged, and, reported' at tho time, put into Buenos Ayres to have' ncccssary repairs effected. ARRIVAL' OF .THE ULIMAROA. Tho Huddart-Parker steamer Ulimaroa arrived in the stream shortly before 7 o'clock yesterday morning, and after being cleared by tho health and Customs officers, was berthed at tho Jcrvois Quay breastwork. The vessel left Sydney at 3 o'clock last Satm-dav afternoon, and made a smart run across, registering 15.2 knots per hour up to-midday on Tuesday. Tho balance of the journey was done under easy steam of about 11 knots an hour. Fresh north-westorly winds and seas were experienced throughout the voyage. '■ Of 650 tons of cargo for Wellington, the principal items are:—l2oo caso.s fruit, 1098 pieces timber, 100 bags oxide, 105 cases soap, 20a bars lead, 96 packets sugar, 301 bags rice, 3SI packages tea, 300 sleepers, 250 case? currants, .110 cases spirits, 200 bags maize, 1000 sacks manure. 210 bags flour, 130 kegs cream tartar, 72 packages molasses fodder, 70 drums carbide; 60 casos sardines, 30 bags bark, and sundries. , ,

Co. advise ' that the departure of the Fifeshire for Lyttelton is postponed till to-morrow. The Union Company advise that the Ivainona is expected to leavo Wcstport at 6 a.lll. to-day, arid the 'Whaugapo at 7 a.m., to-morrow, for Wellington. Last Thursday, the Union Company's clipper barque Loch Lomond left Newcastle for Lyttelton, with a cargo of 1700 tons, of coal for that port. . .. Yesterday the Maoriland S.S. Company's steamer Torgautcn was expected to leave Grey mouth for Wangamii. She is fixed to return to Grcymouth to load for Gisborne. Last night, the Union Company's steamer Flora was expected to leave Oaniaru'for Napier, whence sho comes to W'cllinßton, and is duo on Saturday. At Wellington the vessel is- to load sheop for Lyttelton.
