It lias transpired that General Osman Hoydot, stated to havo been assassinated by an officer in tho barracks at Monastir, was severely, , though not fatally, wounded. Tho garrison at' Tikvcsh has joined the "Young, Turkish" party. DISAFFECTION. Constantinople, July 21. Owing to arrears of pay and other grievances, thero is disaffection among tho troops in Adrianoplo (a fortified' commercial town, capital of tho vilayet Edirno,' and probably, after Constantinople, the most populous town in European Turkey. _

It is not long since syndicates were formed to work antimony deposits in Alexandra and Waitphuna Heights, and new gold mining companies aro constantly being spoken of. The "Otago Daily Times" hfe'ars now of a very ricli gold-bearing reef that has ,beon discovered near Barowood, for the working of which a company has recently been formed. The. reef dips under the railway, but the department' has granted permission to work it, subject to the approval of the local engineer. Electricity, generated by_ water power, will probably bo utilised.. It is stated, too, that in the vicinity of Hydo aro deposits of mica, indicating the preseneo of that commodity in largo quantities, and in thoso indications at I least one gentleman well known in mining circles is latere-sting himself.
