PROVINCIAL NEWS. (FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENTS.)
PALHERSTON. Tho St. Patrick's social' was held Inst evening, there being a largo attendance. Excellent music was provided, and the floor was in good order. A most enjoyablo evening wa.i spent. All interesting show, tinder tho auspices of Manawatu Flying Club, was held last evening, there being a fair attendance. Two hundred entries were received, amongst them 0110 being from Messrs. Rush and Nightingale's loiig distance record breaker, "Jlaster Yank," which flew a distance of 482 miles in 13 hours, and Mr. Allen's "Forup," which flow 415 miles in 12 hours. Another fast bird belongs to Mr. E. Hall, and is credited with having flown 42 miles in 3S minutes.
Tho Salvation Army has organised a strong party of local talent for its. concert this evening.. .. '
~ It was resolved at yesterday's meeting of tho Firo Board to send a circular to aJI fire Boards, suggesting that, a conference he held in Wellington, when the Municipal Conference is being held, with a view of forming a New Zealand fire boards association.. James Murray, chaTged with attempted theft from tho dwelling of J. Little, was remanded until Saturday for tho police report. Tho skating carnival last night proved a great attraction to country visitors.
