PAPUA.
THE ANGLO-GERMAN BOUNDARY; (OV TELEOftAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYIiiaitT.) Sydney, July 21. Arrangements havo been coraploted for defining tho boundaries of British and Gorman territories in Papua. v . Early it May, tho " Cologne Gazetto " stated' that the reports which have been current for , several years with regard to'tho existence'of gold in German .New Guinea have;recently been confirmed by a "mutilated despatch'' from 'tho German Governor, l)r. Halil. Herr von Bennigsen, a former Governor of German New Guinea, who may, pferhaps, bo assumed to : be the journal's authority in this instance, suggests, that since tho Huon Gulf : Syndicate ; has allowed its concession to lapse, the German authorities might find it advantageous to grant digging rights to all applicants without rogard to their nationality. ''The suggestion is interesting" (says "Tllo Times") "in view , of- the fact that Australian diggors and prospectors are believed to have been at work in tho southern and comparatively unexplored portion of the German colony for several years. In this connection it may be noted.that tho ultimato .possibility of a disoussion of British and German mining rights along the boundary of British and German New Guinea is suggested." ' ■ • -
