' NATIONALISM. LIBERALS' MISSION TO ENCLAND. CLOSER TOUCH, (n't TBLEarurii—mess association—corißiam,) (lteo. July 21, 10.5 p.m.) 1 Cairo, July 21. A solf-constitutod hut important mission, practically representing tho Egyptian Liberal party, is coining to London to prorrjote .more iiitimato relations botweon Egyptian and English politicians. THE EGYPTIAN LIBERAL PARTY. Though parties in Egypt aro not altogether clearly outlined, it may be said that tho Egyp. tian Liberal party is a brake on the extr.emo Isationalists. The rola'tive positions of tho Egyptian Liberals and Nationalists of tho type of the' late Mustapha Kamil may be compared with the relative positions of the Moderates and the Extremists at the last Indian National Congress. In Egypt, as in India, there are all degrees in the Nationalist movement. While the extremo parties talk British evacuation, the Egyptian Liberals have' for their programme tho'gradual growth of constitutionalism. They aim at a progressive pro* grammo consistent with friendship to-the,Bri-tish -administration and to foreigners. The Liberals seek .educational .reform, cultivation of the: language-of the country, and ; the removal of native prejudice to European sanitary and administrative methods.' They also seek to educate the people up to representative government. : , 111 n proclamation last year the Liberals declared : "Inasmuch as there are three persons, named Mustapha Kamil, Ali Ytissef, and Hafez Awad, going about Europe delivering speeches, and' getting certain European newspapers to publish what : they wish, and'communicating with . certain British members of Parliament, pretending that they represent the Egyptian people and voice their wants and aspirations., we feel it our duty to declare that these three persons do not by any means represent the -Egyptian people, but are .three jo'urnalists of a certain class whose object is selfadvertisement, and who act as they do to servo and satisfy their'own personal interests, and who are led in various ways from certain quarters whose ambitions are incompatible with justice and with the welfare-of the Egyptian people." The. samo three persons aro accused by - the Liberals of stirring up tho peoplo against foreigners, and against Egyptians who are, friendly foreigners, "under the veil of I'an-Islainism and patriotism."
