Clarevillo on Saturday, when one of tho most enjoyable runs of tho season was experienced. There 'was a largo attendance of huntsmen, Hid course being over Mr. Campbell's and Mr. W. H. At a sitting of tho Juvenile Court on Saturday, three boys were convicted of pigeon stealing, two boing awarded twelve strokes of a birch rod, and the other ordered to coma up for sentence on a second offence. PALMERSTOX Tho Farmers' Union branch has decided to abandon tho ordinary monthly meetings, and in future will only meet when necessary. Tho A. and P. Association will meet on July 21. At the Court on Saturday, A. H. Woods, charged with indecent assault, was remanded till to-day. 1 ■ Tho Council on Saturday mado an inspection of the protcctivo works along the Manawatu Rivor recently damaged by flood. . pREYTOWJT. Tho trustees of the South Wairarapa Hospital met on Friday, and received a letter from the Wellington Hospital .relative to a patient there, and_ asking for a 'guaranteo as to -expenses. No action was .- taken. A cheijuo for £217 10s. was received front the Wairarapa, District Hospital Board. Th'o Treasurer's statement showed £203 Bs. Id. to credit, and accounts amounting to £84 17s. were, passed for payment. There are four patients in hospital, nino were 'discharged during the montn, and ono died. ' ■■■• LEVIN. , : .The Levin Dramatic Society staged "Our Boys" on Friday night as a benefit for Mr. T. of Manakau. Their efforts were greeted by only a 'moderately full house, which rather disappointed tho Society. However, thoy hope to hand over a fair cheque to Mr.. Hargreaves, A bazaar is being held in Levin shortly, the proceeds of which aro to bo devoted to' the improvement of the local school'grounds, and, as many of the Maori children want to, contribute their share, they are hard at. work making mats for sale. ■.
