SECOND T.OTJRNBY OF THE SEASON. The Wellington Boxing Association has arranged a meritorious programme in connection with its second tourney this season, which will take place in the Opera House on Monday ', evening. ' Among interested spectators will be His Excellency the Goveruor (Lord Plunket) and party, and a large number _ of' members'' of both branches of the Legislature. The demand for seats is, if anything, brisker than usual. Gault, of Auckland, and Gosling, of Wellington, the principals in the chief event—a 15-round professional contest—are,.reported to bo in'tho-pink of condition. ' Gault's ability may be gauged by the fact that ho drew with Godfrey, the champion professional feather-weight of the Dominion. ' As is generally known, Gosling is the ex-amateur ban-tam-woight champion. He put up a good fight against Godfrey, who gained the verdict on points. As both . the contestants.-arc-clever and aggressive, in the extreme, the battle is certain to be well .worth..going .» long way to witness. . Three interesting bouts will precede tho principal-event. Parry, who was runner-up m the light-weight : division at' tho' recent amateur championship, is matched!in a sixround contest against O'Douoghup, -who was an unsuccessful but popular, aspirant for. tho honours in. tho. welter-weight .championship last month. Although great interest.centres' in- this fight, it will rank second in this re-, specfc to that between Selway and Kerr. These lads, it will bo remembered, met in tho final for the provincial bantam-weight championship recently. Kerr showed markedability, whilst Selway made up for any lack of cleverness by his gaiijoness and determination. Owing to Kerr striking whilo Selway was down, tho decision was given "to tho latter. The pending contest- should, therefore, provo both interesting; and exciting. Tho third pair who will display their skill are hound to-be popular.
