"THE PRINCE CHAP." , The popularity of The Prince Chap " was, again proved last night, when there was another . large audience . at: tho Opera House. Mr. Harry' Roberts quickly placed himself on friendly terms.with those present'by his able 'representation of William Peyton, the sculptor. There will be two performances today; .The matinee commences at' 2.30 p.m., doors open at 1.45, children half price to all parts of the, theatre. To-night's perform-, ance' is the final one, as; the company leave on Monday.morning for Auckland. ' THEATRE ROYAL. A particularly bright programme was pre-' sented by tho Fuller .Company last evening, the principal:contributorsbeing Miss Maud Perman, in a number'of pretty songs; Miss Belle .Gibbons, who' is as near a baritone vocalist, as a lady can expect to be; Kadamo, the clever Jap wire-walker; Messrs. Leo Ashkens (shadowgraphjst),. George Mackie (comedian), Chas. Moody, Tod • Calloway, and Oarleton and Sutton.' Among the new performers were the: Zeala 1 Sisters (of Welling- 4 ton), who executed; a'lively-'taran'telle as a finish to a Spanish song. A couple of jack 'tars'also.contributed''to the' harmony of tho evening. : '

MACMAHON'S EXQUISITE PICTURES. . There was again a very large attendance at the/Town Hall last evening,' when a repetition of ; Macmahoh's Exquisite Pictures. The audience watched the scrten with the closest attention, -ajid - they w®e duly appreciative, recognising .that they were being, provided with a first-rate entertainment. > The pictures are good and now,. and 'thei.- interest is, maintained .' froiu start to finish. There is never a dull'moment?. The tnck\;pictures' were oxtremely interesting, andthey wore quite a feature of the list. Among the films run off ~were the following : —"Pierrot's Jealousy," ' "His Daughter's Voice)"."The Flower of Youth," "The TenMile? Steeplechase," "The Cabin Boy," " Will He Overtake Them ?". "Her First Bike Ride," " The Haunted House," and "Any Barrels to Sell?" Miss H. Lorraine Tansley gave fa pleasing rendering of the illustrated songs, When We Were Together," " Sweet' Adeline," , " Fiddle and I," and " When the Lilacs Bloom Again." ■ ROYAL PICTURES. There was a very large'and appreciative audience at the. exhibition .of" the Royal Pictures, at His Majesty's Theatre last'evening, when this'week's programme was continued. The pictures , gre characterised by an absence of flicker. Some of the most' interesting films were the coloured ones, and attention centred on."Tricksy, the Fairy Princess." "Autumn Reaves" proved a great attraction, and it was most closely watched. The picture entitled " A Magnetic Removal" caused great amusement. Among the other films run off were: "The Tempter," "After Midnight," "Push," ""The Fresh Air Fiend," "Artful Lovers," " The Troubles of a Flirt," and "A Painless Extraction." There will be a matinee, to-day, besides, the usual exhibition in the evening. , , ' '

WELLINGTON CHORAL SOCIETY. ' A miscellaneous concert is t-o be tendered in the Town Hall on Friday next, July 17, by the Wellington Choral Society. This, a non-subscribers' concert, is being held for the purpose of raising funds to enable the society to purohase a set of wood wind instruments from England, tuned to the pitch of the Town Hall organ. This will allow of the organ being playkl in conjunction with the orchestra at the society's, and other performances, which, under present circumstances, is not This is a movement which deserves the hearty support of the music-loving public. The box plan is open at the Dresden, where gallery, seats may be reserved for an extra charge of 6d.-' ' OLYMPIA SKATING RINK. With a competition, an impending carni ; val, and- the- presence of Miss Maude Lewis, patrons of the Olympia Rink are well provided with extra attractions. This morning there will be a matinee and a race for a pair of skates. - The band . will be in attendance afternoon and evening, arid at the latter session Miss Lewis will give an exhibition of fancy and-graceful skating, FRANK THORNTON'S FAREWELL TOUR. A short season of comedy will open next Thursday night at the Opera House, when I Mr. Frank Thornton produces a new - and [ exceptionally successful dream play, "When Knights Wcro Bold"—a : play that is in the 600 th night of its run in London. Mr. Thornton is now on'his farewell tour, and his old admirers are. not likely to let the chance slip of witnessing his farewell performances. In the South Island the same success is attending the: play that it met with everywhere. . Sir Joseph and Lady Ward will be present on" the opening night of the season. The : plans open at 10 a.m. on Monday at' Holiday's.' -' \ • • " THE GUV'NOR." • ■ That favourite comedy, "The Guv,'nor" will be staged by the: Wellington Dramatic Club ,at tho Opera House on Tuesday arid Wednesday next.- The whole' production is under the direction, of a professional coaoh, aind a good performance, should result. . A feature of the production will be the setting of the Willow Tree ferry, Putney, which will represent an English 'riverside boater's cottage. The orchestra, under the direction of Mr. H. Percival Clark, will render appropriate music. His Excellency the Governor and the Hons., J..A.-Millar and G. Fowlds have intimated their intention of being present. The Wellington Pipe Band is to play the local-Volunteers from the Drill-shed to the Opera. House on the opening night. Tho box plan is now on viow. at.the Dresden. MAORI ENTERTAINMENT. The programme for the Maori entertainment wnich is to be given -in tho Town Hall under the auspices of the> Maori Congress on Wednesday, July 15, is advertised in this issue. As will be seen, the entertainment is one of striking'interest, representative of tho . Maori at'home, at play, .at war, and under pakeha regime. The whole is under the direction of the Rev. F. A. Bennett and Mr. A. ■ T.-<Ngata, and. will, bo carried out. by the Maori Mission Choir and entertainers, assisted by a strong " Waiafca" and "Haka" party of East Coast natives,.
