.On Monday ovcuing a very pleasant dance was given by Miss Violet Warburton and her pupils; in ihtv dancing hall belonging: to her, home.' The rooms were charmingly, decorated '.witir wattle, chrysanthemums, •and-'freesias. Among those present were Mrs. Warburton and Mrs.- Groville, Misses Greville, Newcomo, Dorset, Moys, Hayesj Wiggins, Zohrab, Smith, Simpson, Miller, Flemming, Graves, Reading, Hill, Warburton, Bently/Dimant, and Messrs. .Miss Maclean, principal, of tho Wellington Girls'. College, has been confined to her home through- illness for - several weeks. Her friends will be glad to hear that she is now better, and hopes soon to bo able to resumo her, duties at/the College;..:
About three hundred people were present at :tho Star Boating Club's ball last night. It was held . in : the Concert; Chamber of the Town Hall, and'most of the_ other rooms in the. building were, at tlie serviced the club's guests during the evening. The Council Chamber, /half filled with prettily frocked quite a charming appearance, and,from tho,walls tho Father's.of. Wellington smiled dowii reminiscently, pleased at tho transformation of the hour.- Supper was laid on many, little tables in the corridors, the stairs were carpeted and made beautiful "with' large palms- and ferns, and the stage was decorated with 'palms: and comfortably furnished for the who wero Mes- . dames Fulton, Bridge, Bendall, Butt, Jame-' son,'and Butler. Thero were four debutantes; Miss.Doris Chilman,: who wore white crystalline, 'with silver .trimmings; -Miss Hobday, whito'silk with, silver ;-Miss. Olive Smite, who also chose .white -silk 'and silver trimmings; and'/Miss..Doughty,. whose" white" messaliue frock, was finished with* a bertha of rose point lace.'C.Mrs.'H.vD. Bell was.' in .black;.
