(BT TELEGRAM—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) • DROWNED AT A FORD. ' Dunsdin, July o. A young man named Alfred Blakeley, aboui 21 years ,of age, whose; parents reside in Roslyn, was drowned while crossing •'a ford at Patearoa yesterday afternoon. Deceased and his brother were working' on their father's farm. Deceased was warned by his father, a week or two' ago to be very careful when crossing this ford. The body has not yet been recovered.

Alexander Beadie, a labourer, aged about 38; a recent arrival from Mast-erton; whc attempted to commit: suicide at Hastings, on June 27; by cutting his throat with' a razor, died in Napier Hospital on Saturday afternoon. ■ KILLED WHILST BLASTING. , ' Auckland, July 4. ; A young'man named: Bernard Montague, son of .Bernard Montague, of Gordon settlement,' near To Aroha, was killed on / Thursday while removing timber by blasting. Do-> coased was working with his brother' Francis,; who, after, an explosion of dynamite, found Bernard dead with his faco and chest badly injured. An inquest was held and a verdict of accidental death was returned. FELL FROM AN HOTEL WINDOW. , Oamaru, July L Robert Lawson,. formerly . an. auctioneer, who foil from the upstairs window of a hotel on-Thursday, died in the hospital yesterday. Ho had sustained >a broken* leg and other injuries, but the medical evidence was to tho effect that death was caused by delirium tremens, accelerated by the fall. A verdict, was returned accordingly.
