A young man named Alfred Blakeley, aboui 21 years ,of age, whose; parents reside in Roslyn, was drowned while crossing •'a ford at Patearoa yesterday afternoon. Deceased and his brother were working' on their father's farm. Deceased was warned by his father, a week or two' ago to be very careful when crossing this ford. The body has not yet been recovered.

An inquest was held and a verdict of accidental death was returned. FELL FROM AN HOTEL WINDOW. , Oamaru, July L Robert Lawson,. formerly . an. auctioneer, who foil from the upstairs window of a hotel on-Thursday, died in the hospital yesterday. Ho had sustained >a broken* leg and other injuries, but the medical evidence was to tho effect that death was caused by delirium tremens, accelerated by the fall. A verdict, was returned accordingly.
