AVriting to tho "Hawko's Bay Herald," a correspondent sa3's: "Some weeks' ago,' whilo mustering, I noticed a lamb going very short at tho tail of the mob. As ho was practically valueless, a stranger,- and' did not look liko reaching the .-yards, I caught and killed I then noticed that ho had 110 feet. I do not mean that the hoofs only.wore gone. The whole foot was gone, as though you had cut off my hand at tho wrist, and ho was going on his stumps. Threo of the stumps had calloused over completely, tho fourth was a littlo raw; but ho had travelled somo distance o'vor fairly rough going when I caught him. Tho condition of his legs, also healed, showed that ho had been through the January bush fires, when, I imagine, ho lost his feot."
Japan has learned many ' things from Western nations, but tho lesson'that honesty in international commerce is the best policy seems to have come last. —".World," Vancouver# 1
