, COUNTY COUNCIL MEETING. : iAt the County Council, meeting it was decided that tho Chairman meet Mr.. Ross, M.P., in regard to reserves at Wellington next week. The solicitor for-the purchasers of Holder's estate asked, as to the Council's intention of roading ■ same, but the Council was of the opinion that there was no need of it. Regarding tho heavy traffic >on the road it was decided 1 that the Maharahara carters are to pay £10 each towards damages already done, and their loads limited 1000 feet in the futuro, a load of three tons, in straker, and throe tons in the trail wagon was fixed as the limit for Mr. Rapley to carry with his engine. .The Council's solicitor's opinion is to be taken as to' what steps can be'taken to compel the Palmerston North Sash and Door Factory to remove tha tram-line, they having refused to do it.: The District High School asked for £7 10s. towards upkeep of Technical School, which was granted. The resignation' of the, Ranger was accepted with regret, as ho had fulfilled -his duties well. Applications are to bo asked for the A. register of all bridges in the county is to bo.compiled, giving their age and class of structure. Th'ero are» 117. The estimates for the coming year,provide for the renewal, of thirteen bridges at .a cost of £2700; roads, £800 (covered by a rate of Id. in the £, subsidy, and other income). Application is' to bo mado for a £1 for £1 subsidy for tho Kumeroa bridge, up' to £100 Cross estate, and up to £50 • for tho bridge oil Lower Woodland Road, and a £100 grant for Otawba >Road, Kumeroa. ■
