In a lettor which was read at the meeting of. the Philosophical Society last ovenjng, Mr. A. Ngata, M.P., secretary of the Congress, invited-that body to scud delegates to tho Conference, who should bo'prepared'to speak on this,-proposal. Mr. Ngata wrote that ono of the subjects to come before the Congress would be Maori antiquities arid .customs, and that Archdeacon Williams had ■promised to .lread' a paper on < tho Maori language. Mr. ; A. Hamilton stated , that the Conferonco would be the first of tho kind, and it was hoped that the endeavours of tho Young Maori party to. get into touch with other workers 5 and scientific leaders, and exchange views on questions affecting, the welfaro of the' Native race,'would bo successful. Mr. Ngata extended:a very cordial invitation to members of the Society to attend tho Congress, and ho hoped that, the Society, wonM •show its interest in .the project.
