HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.
'A meeting of the Hutt District Fira Boari was called for 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon in the Mayor's Room at the Petono Borough Council Chambers, but lapsed, for want of a quorum'.' Tho meeting was of considerable importance, as tho fire brigade hand over the plant to-day, and a superintendent and deputy-superintendent have to'bo'appointed to take charge. ■ An open-air meeting was held in the Lower Hutt on Saturday night by tho No-license League. Addresses were given by Messrs. A. J. Daniel and Thos. Townsend (secretary). There was a fairly good crowd, who kept things very interesting with interjections and questions, all of which were "well met. The nost meeting is to be at Upper Hutt.
