Tlio Government has invited tho opinion of tho principal friendly societies on tho subject of non-contributory pensions. A majority replied favouring tho Bill. Others, including tho Northumberland and Durham Miners' Societies, favoured a relief fund. Tho Rochabites and Druids consider pensions would havo an injurious effect, by discouraging thrift. Tho Oddfellows and some other societies decline to express an opinion on tho subject. ' , .
