S.P.W. AND C.

The Society for the Protection of Women and Children held its fortnightly meeting on Friday afternoon in ' tho Society's rooms, when the following members were present:— Mrs. A. 11. Atkinson (who presided), Mesdames Darvall, Hoby, Fell, and Evans. Several cases were dealt with, among them being five that had come before the notice of the secretary since,the last meeting. A resolution was carried expressing the Society's appreciation of tho' kindness and courtesy shown to it by Sub-Inspector O'Donovan. Subscriptions from the following were acknowledged with thanks:—Sir. C. W. Smith, El, and ss. each from Mrs. Maudsley, Mr. J. B. Heywood, Mr. W. Kensington, and Mr: H. Pollen.
