At tli* inquest on the man Graham, who was found dead at Ohakune, a verdict was returned of death, from apoplexy, brought on by tho effects of drink. . FOUND DEAD. v Dunedin, Juno 27. John Bowley, a baker, 62 years of age, was found dead on a footpath in Leith Street,', near his homo, early this niorning, having apparently died whilo ou his way to work. At tho inquest, a son of deceased said that tho latter complained of tightness of tho chest yesterday, and seemed a little faint, but recovered after sitting down for a whilo. A verdict of death from heart disease was returned. .

| DEATH : OF A CHILD. . Dunedin, Juno 27. A 'domestic named Evelyn M'Leod gave birth to a. fornale child yesterday morning. The facts of. the birth were apparently not communicated by tho girl to .anyone, and tho body of the child was discovered in her room. An inquest was held this afternoon. . Dr. Siedcberg stated that sho saw tlio mother, who said tlio child had not cried. Sho found tho child in a sack within a basket. There wero no marks of violence to account for death. Tho lungs gave indication that the child had breathed fully, and all tho ; organs wero healthy. Tho cause of death was probably hemorrhage, duo no doubt to neglect to observe the usual practice at birth. Chief Detective Herbert asked for an adjournment. "~Hc pointed out that it would perhaps bo only fair not to call any more ovidcnco till tho girl and her parents could bo present. The Coroner: Yes, especially as a ehargo of concealment of birth may follow. Chief Dctectivo Herbert: That is what it will resolvo itself into. There is no question of anything more serious. Tho further hearing was adjourned till July 13.
