AUSTRALIA'S FUTURE.
SPEECH BY JIR. CARRUTHERS. BT TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION —CQPTEIdHt (Rec. June 27, 0.15 a.m.) London, June 26. The Anglo-Saxon Club entertained Mr. J. H. Carruthers (ex-Premier of New South Wales) and Mr. Davies (Victoria). Mr. Oarruthers said Australia was destined to become a great nation. He referred to tho fact that neighbouring nations in the East were emerging from a long slumber, and perhaps Australia would have to pay tho penalty for mistakes in the past. Personally he did not think it would be a bad day for Australia when its manhood was put to tho test.
