MONTHLY MEETING. • . A meeting of the Land Board'was held at the District Land and Survey Office, Wellington, yesterday. There; were present Messrs. Jas. Mackenzie (Commissioner Crown Lands, ;in tho chair), A. Pieece, J. Dawson, J. M. A'Court, and'C. J. Canton. 'Titles submitted to the 1 Board for approval and passed were presented by Messrs. H. 3'. T. Jaggard (Ohinewairua District), N. Small, junr., (ditto), J. F. Casey (ditto), R. F. Perham (ditto), H. Fiirrick (Mount Cerberus), P. Stack (Hautapu), E. 8., Oman (Puketio), and P. Ealliday '(Hakuri); ' It was resolved to appoint Mr. Lundius, Crown-Lands Ranger, as the. appraiser to value the fee simple of part section 75, Taihape Extension, V.S., in terms of Section 20 of tho Land Laws Amendment Act, 1907. •Transfers of. sections were granted as fol-. low:—Mangahao District—Mrs. E. Morgan to J. T. Rawlings; Oroua—Mrs. J. Avison to F. Heard; Umutoi—P. J. Christcnsen to S. Hayward; Hautapu—A. M. Beauchamp to iN. Transom (subject to declaration as to improvements being effected); Umutoi—J. W. Tompkins to E. J. and T. J. E. Moore; Kaitawa Estate—P. Mason (deceased) to C. P. Knight and G. V., Kemsley; Belmont—J. A. Lawson to W. E. Timmings; Mangaone—J. P. Heckler to W. H. Heckler; Tauakira, Momohaki—J. Scott to C. G. Boss; Mangawhero—Estato- J. Parley (doceased) to M. S.' A. and A. J. Farley, Martha Ellis, and R. and J. Farley; Mangawhero— M. S. A. and A. J. Farley and M. Ellis to E. and J. Farley (subject to completion of abovementioned transfer). With reference to the postponed application of Mr. J. Gordon to transfer Section nui Village Settlement, to Mr. T. M'Kean, a report was received from tho Crown Lands Eanger, whiclr did not bear out the statements of the lessee, and it was resolved not to approve the request.—Notice was given to comply with conditions within three months.
It was resolved to approve the transfer of Section 18, Block 11, Jlalcotuku, from Mr. W. M. Fraser to Messrs. James Dickson and Michael O'Sullivan, provided both transferees are eligible, and can make the required statutory declaration. Miss M. L. lorns applied to transfer a half-sharo-of Section 2, Block IV, Haurangi, to her brother, Mr. W. A. lorns, to enable the latter to fulfil the residence conditions, as, owing to the serious illness of her mother, she is now unablo to go and live on the land.—lt was resolved that, owing to the unforeseen circumstances under which Miss lorns is now placed, the transfer be approved. With reference to the proposed transfor of Section 13, Block XIII, Huangarua, from Mr. E. G. Harris to Mr. T. F. Smith, it was resolved to approve of the declaration being amended.in terms of Section SI (1) of the Land Act,' 1892, to suit the circumstances of tho caso, owing to Jlr. Smith's death. Mr. T. O'Keefe applied to transfer Section 49, Hukanui V.S., to Mrs. M. J. Smith. Resolved to approve the application on compliance with tho terms of Scction 147 of tho Laud Act, 1892. ' The Public Trustee, in tlio estate of the late Mr. M. C. Connor, applied to transfer Section 4, Block IV., Waipakura, to Mr. Win. Park. This was approved. _ Mr. O. Smith applied to transfer Section 7, Karowarowa V.S., to Mr. F. Tempoi-ley.—Re-solved to authorise tho Commissioner to deal with the application. Miss G. Lowi6, licensee of Section 2, Block XIII. Tauakira. applied to havo a portion of tho Scenic and Stream 1 Bank Reserve allotted to her—Grantod.
Messrs. Barnicoat and Treadwcll wroto asking that the Board's consent to a mortgage over a Crown titlo prior to tho expiration of tho first 12 months of tlio torm should bo given in terms of Section 147 of the Land Act, 1892.—Resolved
not to comply with the request, as tho mortgage can bo effected'without the Board's consent, which is not now necessary. Mr. J. J. Welch applied to nublot' Section 7, Block IV, TJinutoi, to Mrs. Iv. if. 0. Venables for five years at an annual rental of ,Cl 5. It was resolved'to approve on certain conditions. A report was received from tho Crown Lands Ranger on Mr. L. Fisher's application for Section 1, Block 11, Humia, as a pig run. It was resolved to grant this under Section 11G (year to year). A report was received from tho Crown Lands Ranger on Mr. P. O'Shca's application for a site for an accommodation house in .the Ow-
liango Township, and it was resolved to-grant tho application, (year to year), ,£2 per annum. , ... It was resolved to approve of.Section 299, Township of Waitotara being offered for cash by public auction in terms ,of Section. 118 of The Land 'Act, 1592, at an upset'price of .£75, it being deemed to possess special value owing to tho proximity to'railway lino and station'. Mr. P. J. M'Cann, lessee of Section 1, Block VII, Maungakarotu, applied for a lease of-a small portion of Section i, Block VII, Maungakaretu, so that he can have access to the* water. It was resolved to offer Mr. M'Cann a license under.. Section 11G of The Land Act, 1892, to occupy about. two acres of tho open land in the south-east corner of Section 4 at a rental of .£G 10s. per amium, subject to the usual conditions. A report was received • from the Crown, Lands Hanger with reference to Messrs, W. Armstrong and J. . M'Ainch's application to lease part Section 45, Oliakune Suburbs, and it was resolved to withhold tho section from disposal l on account of the timber on the suburban lots, and decline both applications. The Piriaka School Committee wrote with reference to its obtaining Section 26, Manunui, as a horse paddock for the use-of the school children. It was resolved to, hold the section from sale for. the present, and allow it to be used for tho required purpose.' With reference to the interview with the Commissioner at Taihape by Mr. P. J. Murphy, who; asked for' assistance to build, etc., it was resolved.to grant .£3O to assist in'building.
