Tho debate in tho Transvaal Assembly on the Customs Cqnforenco's resolution in favour of olosar unjon (which include,? tho calling together of a South African Convention to draft a federal constitution) was continued. i Tho Colonial Seoretary (Mr. Smuts) declared that Africa was' ripe for union, aud that it would ha unwise to loso a glorious opportunity. The Assembly unanimously - adopted tho closer union resolutions.
