Matches between the representatives of th<r Colleges invariably provide scientific expositions, and,-judging by tho. form attained ..this season by tho players who, will bo engaged, to-morrow's contest should prove no exception to tho rule.

The members of tho British.-team ! bavo arranged to spend Friday in tho country. The conferenco-r between Mr. Harnett (manager of the British-team) and the members Or tho Management' Committee of tho New Zealand Rugby Union, with reference to proposed alterations iu' -the laws of Rugby, will probably - take: placo at tho weekly meeting of ..the Committee on Thursday erenino;. . x : . Tho,New Zealand Rugby: Union had originally intonde'd to entertain tho members of tho British and Newi Zealand -team's 'at dinner after the second itest match on Saturday. REFEREES' ASSOCIATION.^ THE CLASSIFICATION COMMITTEE. .A meeting of the' Referees'' Association was, held last evening, Mri ; F. -A.-Eaws'-presid-ing. -

Messrs. F. A. Laws, "J. 'Condor,, and J. Woybourno, of the Classification Committee', handed in their resignations from-'that l Committep. ~ ■; -- 1 -■ -- .- •i, ; Sir. Lusk moved tliat*-th6 -resignations' be not accepted. , Mr.; Moeller moved as <aii amendment that tho resignations of the first two members be not accepted, but that''the resignation of Mr. Wcybourne' should' be accepted,as .bo had not, in tho movers .opinion, done his duty. ■

Mr. Weyboiirne remarked that he was'glad ho had been left outi 1 and added sarcastically that lie.did not think ho was-fit"to fill the position'. ■

•A Voice: Hear, hear'.-'' : i Mr. Woybourno went on to say that, ho had been on duty every Saturday, and had not had an opportunity, to classify men. Ho had done the best he could under tho circumstances, but would gladly retire. V Mr. Lusk thought it..was a pity : that-tho Classification Committeeshould, be eo. thinskinned as to resign as soon, as-a few-junior members • had temerity- to : say that : they had not had fair play. Personally, he agreed that tho juniors had not.-reoeiyed fair; treatment,- but; he did not think, it - fair, to the Association that tho-Committee should have taken tho stop they: had done. -,- Mr. Siovers pointed !out that tho members of tho Committed had done ,'thoir best in view of the activo refereeing they had had'to do. The Classification Committeo had done good work,: and if. tho present -resignations were acoepted, it would. be" difficult to got tho Senior men to tako tho work up.

Mr. Quin thought it., was. a'pity., for ~the men to resign at this..stage of,,the, season, and he would like to sop them withdraw tho resignations.

; Mr. Laws said it seemed to him that now that the Classification Committee was fully represented ■ members were afraid to say anything. Ho did not see why the, Association should single out any particular member for criticism. If. the: Appointment Board selected a team .for matches, he could; not do tho matches and go out. and do his classifying as ; well., Ho aid not want to' do anything to keep the working'of tho Association back. The Committee set- out to 'do its best, and had done that best. : Mr. Lusk' said ■ that the'only suggestion that had been made'at''tho previous'meeting was that the ! junior'referees should' recoivo more attention.

• 'Mr. Moeller rose to explain that he attacked no man personally.' ; Mr! Weybourtio had had to act' as ,: a'-referee■each'"Saturday and could not therefore" classify."' With "thopermission of his seconded, Mr.' ■ Moeiler withdrew his amendment. - '•' ; : Mr. Laws informed'tho- meeting' that ho would not take ■ office unless tho motion-was rejected unanimously.': . The motion was put to tho meeting'and carried, there being! - only: two . dissentient, voices. On tho motion. ofo/Mr. Lawsi tho, vote.-: were rec0rded......... i-, The chairman declared tho Classification Committqe still in office. Mr. Condor still held out as the meeting was not unanimous. " Messrs. Woybourno and Laws also persisted in resigning if tho.voice of tho meet-' inil was not unanimous.' :

Mr. Quin-moved that jfi, view of .the position that bnd.arisenj tbe resifciiatiohs bo accepted. This was agreed to by a small majority. .. . ,>•... , .. Aftor some further discussion Mr; Lusl; moved thnt. tho_ secretary be empowered, to' rcceive nominations' for tho'.committeo up to Monday.night next."' Mr. Quin mover] 'an amendment that tho matter be dealt with at once. . \ The amendment was lost, and tho motion carried. ' ; Messrs. R. Fordyco- and S.
