HOSPITAL TRUSTEES' REPORT. : (BY TELEGRAPH. —SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.} The annual roport of. the Masterton Hospital reads: -— Tho year has been marked by the completion of the new hospital building, and tho opening function was held on Thursday, December 12, and patients and staff removed from the old building in January. The accommodation in tho new building is of a very superior nature, the main wards being so designed that they can db lighted and ventilated from both sides, ino design gives excellent hygienic pro- £ i"*' but > unfortunately, does not lend itself to economy. Tho existing accomraodation for twenty-four patients only has already boen overtaxed; and is likely to prove iuadequate m tho near future. The members of the at. John Ambulanca Corps are to be congratulated on the success of their efforts to provide an. up-to-date ambulance service. Tho new ambulance brougham has given every satisfaction. Messrs. Colquhoun, Douglas, 'W. Taylor T' A. M'Lcod, Hugh Campbell', e! W. 1 ayton, and the Trustee of tho Welch Estate, settlers residing in tko M'iki Miki and upper-Opaki districts, liavo arranged with Messrs. Jackson Bros, to erect a privato telephone lino to connect them with Masterton and Cnrtorton. A mooting of members of tho Catholic Church Committee, held on Sunday night, decided lo hold an entertainment iii aid of tho church funds on Thursday, July 16. Yesterday morning at East Taratahi' Mr. Rathbone s traction-engine broke through a small bridge, and had a narrow escapo from serious damage. The engine becanio embedded in tho water-course below.
