A rumour is current froin a source which gives the statement the imprint of truth that tho H,who's Bay sitting member (Mr. Dillon) will bq raised to tho Upjjer Souse, nnd that the Government ohoico tails on Mr. W. H. Jull, of Waitiawa. If this is truo, a new complexion will be thrown on the political aspect; and will leave tho following candidates in the field:—Sir W. ttussoll, Mr. G. Sponcor Clapham, Mr. T. J. Thompson, Mr. H. Lan Simson, and Mr. W. H. Jull.

(BT TELEGRAM.—SrECIAt, COItIIESrONDENT.) ■ Fellding, 'Juno 22. Mr. D. H. Gutlirio nnnounces himself to- ' day as a candidato for the Oroua soat in tho Opposition and Farmers' Union interests. Mr. Guthrio is ,i farmor at ltuahino, nnd ho is a member of tho ltivorton County Council, and of tho Wanganui Education Board. Tho rumour referred to in tho nbovo telegram from Napier was mentioned to Sir Josoph Ward by a Dominion reporter last evening. The Primo Minister replied that ho presumed that Mr. Dillon was gojng to stand again, as ho had no information-to tho contrary, and, of coui'se, Mr. Dillon would be tho Government candidate. "Wo are faithful to thoso' l who aro faithful to us." Sir Joseph also said that it wg,s not intended to make any appointments to the Legislative Council at present.
