The British footballers, with the exception of half a dozen, who camo by steamer yesterday, arrived overland to-niglit; having' experienced fii'.o weather throughout the two days' A.large crowd assembled to witness the official reception of the visitors, who wero formally welcomed by, tho Mayor and Dr. Andrew (president of the Nelson Rugby Union). The weather for the past few days has been fine, -and tho ground is in Rood order. There is 'every prospect of ,a Uno da.v to-morrow, and a big attendance. Tho British team selected is as follow:— .Tackctt, full-back: Gib|)s, M'Hvedy, I'onfcy Jones, J. L. Williams, three-quarters; W, Morgan, Jones, and Guys, halves; Dibble Jackson, Morgan, Down, Green, Ritson, .Archer, and J. F. Williams, forwards. TO-DAY'S MATCHES. Tho Wellington. Rugby Union, ivhich has been playing its' matches on the Miramar Grounds for'some timo past, is to commence playing on the Athletic Park again this afternoon, when the two leading teams in tho 'championship, Melrose and Oriental, will try conclusions. Petoue and St. James will meet at Potono, and the balance of the senior games will be played at Miramsr.
