LAND FOR SETTLEMENT.

New areas of land for settlement are open tor,, renewable lease in Nelson and Otago. _The Nelson land is situated in Takaka and Waimea Counties, on the main road between Takaka and Rnvaka. It is third-class unsurveyed National Endowment land, "rough broken, hilly country, of limestone formation! about 350 acres burnt bush grown un with blackberries, etc.; and thfe rest bush." " There are two sections—Llos and 1147 acres. Tho rent in each caso. is 4.8 pence per acre per annum. Applications close at Nelson on Wednesday, July 22. The Otago land is situated in Bmco County, Waitaki County, and Clutha County. There are sis sections of from li to 4i acres close to Hillend Post Office and school, and three, sections, of one acre each, a quarter of a mile from Borton's Siding and 4J miles from Duntroon. The only large area is in Clutha County, 316J acres of open; undulating second-class land, chiefly ploughable, deep black soil, well watered. It is 13} miloa from Clinton and 6} miles from Clutha River steamer landing. The rent is £23 14s. 6d. per half-year. Applications close at Dunedin- on Monday, July 13.
