.The-good effect of draining has been very noticeable on tho clay lands of the Taratahi Plains, Wairarapa. -Some years ago, these areas grew only stunted manuka, and were described as the worst in tho district. The right class of farmers got hold of them, and by systematic and scientific draining, tho oondemned blocks have been made to grow tho finest wheat crops in the valley.
