14 About a dozen residents of Northland mot in the State Schoolroom last evening;' under the chairmanship of Mr. James Bemiie, who stated that the committee which had interested itself in the amalgamation of Northland with the City had been disbanded, as its object was achieved.. It was now proposed to. form" a municipal electors' association, such ,as already existed 'in other suburbs, in order to watch-the work of the City Council, as far as it affected the locality, and make such representations to that body as seemed desirable.
Mr. J. Aston, lion. sec. of the Amalgamation Committee, read the rules of the Brooklin Municipal Electors' Association, and spoke of the desirability of forming a similar organisation in Northland. Tho mooting unanimously adopted the suggestion, and elected tho following officers: — President, Mr. Finlay M'Leod; vice-presi-dent, Mr.-A. Cj Poarc'e; treasurer, Mr. C. Anderson, hon. secretary' (pro.- tern), Mr. J. Aston; committee, Messrs. 6. Thomas, A. Stubbs,. W. A. M'Kay, •L. George, and S. Burney. ■ It was decided to hold meetings on tho first Friday in each month. The subscription was fixed at 2s. 6d. a year. The rules of tho Brooklyn Municipal Electors' Association were adopted, mutatis mutandis.
