"A ROYAL DIVORCE." Tho Knight-Huniphroy Companj brought a lengthy an'd highly successful season at the Opera House to a close last nigh; by giving anothor performaiico of that interesting play, "A Royal Divorce." Eloquent testimony to the popularity, of the company and tho excellence of tho "drama was afforded by the fact that the audicncoAvas tho most numerous of tho whole season. Long before the doors were opened there was a large ciwd awaiting admittance, and when the curtain was raised standing room was at a premium. As on tho previous evenings, the efforts of Mr. Julius Knight and Miss Ola aroused unbounded onthusiasm. Tho principals were again woll supported b? the other members of tho tulentod company. v THEATRE ROYAL. There was a large attendance at ,tho Theatre Royal again last night. Fred H. Graham and Ncllio Dent, wno performed a one-act comedy entitled "A Bachelor's Dream," provoked considerable merriment. Carlton and Sutton, who have been designated "tho laughter-raisers," proved unmistakably that they have a just claim to tho title. < Of tho other artists,. Miss Blanche Carelli, who sang "Oh, 'twas a dream" and "Tho old sweet melody,"''was'probably tho most successful. During tho performance this evening, Mr. Ben Fuller will, on behalf of tile management and the mechanical staff, make a presentation to Mr. Fred Graham, who is about to loave for Home and America. RICKARDS'S VAUDEVILLE COMPANY. ! Mr. Harry Richards' s Vaudeville Company will inaugurate a short sfeason in the Opera House on Monday next, with a constellation of star " artists. The leading performers of tho combination are far above tho average. First comes tho turn of the Threo Sisters Ivlos. Thoy are daring lady aerial performers of refinement, grace, aiid intrepidity. The Brothers Artois givo a clever comedy bar performance, and their work in performing; tho most difficult feats of swinging, circling, releasing, and regaining hold, is astounding. In the Miles-Stavordale Quintet, four of the musicians, aro banjoists, while the fifth plays the harp. The quintet is quito a musical novelty, and clever imitations are given of the human voice. All tho other members of the company. aro performers of merit,, and a programme of vaudeville, bright with special features, is promised. The box plain is at Holliday's.
OLYMPIA SKATING RINK. All sessions of the Olympia Skating Rink yesterday maintained a high average of patrons. In the evening a mile race was run, and resulted in a win for Sir. A. Paterson (scratch, Mr. A. Roland (60yds.) being second. Tho next groat attraction at Olympia will bo tho masquerade carnival tomorrow night. There will be competitions and races, and a good evening's entertainment is promised. . i ORGAN RECITAL. This evening, at the Town Hall, Mr. Maughan Barnett will give the usual organ recital. 1 The principal items of the programme. are tho ''Storm Fantasio," by Wely, Ann's Fugue," by Bach, "March Triomphale," by Lemmens, so a very delightful evening's music is assured. GARRISON OFFICERS' BALL. At a meeting of the committee of tho Wellington Garrison Officers' Ball held last evening, it was decided to postpono that function from June 24 to July 20. The ball; which is to bo given in honour of tho opening of the new Drill Hall in Buckle Street (where it is to bo held),. promises to bo a vory brilliant affair. The new hall is to bo lavishly decorated, and the general arrangements for the comfort and convenience of guests will be on a- scale seldom equalled in the city. As tho ball will take place during race week, it. is expected that a largo number of visitors 'to Wellington will attend. .
