• 3 : MR. DONALD REID, JUN., TO RETIRE. CANDIDATES. Mr. Donald Reid, jun. (states a Press Association telegram) will not, for private reasons,..seek re-election for Taieri at-tho next general election.' Last week "it was published that Mr. T. Mackenzie, M.P., had been asked by several Taieri electors to permit himself to be nominated for that seat, but that he had declined as he would not oppose Mr. Reid, the sitting member. ! Our. Dunedin correspondent last n'Mit telegraphed that Mr. H. D. Bedford is" a suro candidate for tho scat. He intended to stand anyway. Mr. J. Loudon, ex-Mayor of Duneum, is also mentioned, and now i have Jt on pretty good authority that . Mr. Tom Mackenzie, is to have a run for the seat. Jiacli of these Is a supporter of the Government. i,lr. Mackenzie and Mr. Bedford Jiave stated so, and Mr. Loudon's leanincs aro supposed to be the same.
