WOMEN'S SPHERE.
Sir, While acknowledging the justness of 'L. N.'s" beautiful remarks on "Women's Sphere" in Wednesday's issue, "L.N." forgets thai all women aro not born, housekeepers ; to 0110 lias btcu given 0110 talent, to another two, to another live, "accoiding to their scwral ability." But from either stupidity or enviousuess this ability, which is entitled to vt*ry high rcspcctt from the community, is set aside as though she wero' "attempting rivalry." Women, I fool sure, do not desire to sit in Parliament; the great problems of lifo can bo answered from their own homes, where, they, may bo ablo to increase tho gonoral fund of wisdom and enlighter.mont, as to lead men to tho path of progress' towards tho realisation of tho best of which they aro capable. Bacon suys, "Certainly men in great fortunes aro strangers to themselves, and while they aro in. the puzzle of business they- haveno time to tend their health of body or mind." Now, this is wlicro tho usefulness of the thinking portion of women conies in. They aro keenly alive to what goes on, and should turn their energies to solving problems, which in the war of tho crowd would bo well-nigh impossible. There is 110 attempt, being mado at rivalry; she knows for capabilities, sho feels that " labour and leisure aro inevitable "laws of naturo, and that all natural instinct and sagacity demand that the higher shall not give place to lower, tho head-and-liand 'm.n must co-exist in the body, and that the inequalities of lifo ara not artificial or accidental."—l am, etc., • LIVE AND LET LIVE.
