WOMEN AND CHILDREN'S PROTECTION.

A meeting of tho committee of the Society for the Protection _of Women and Children was held in the society's office, Willis Street, on Friday afternoon, when Mrs. Atkinson presided; Tho members present, wero Rev. Mother Mary Joseph Auborfc, and Mesdames Rhodes, Fell, Hoby, Izard, Darvall, and Evans. It was reported that five fresh cases had been brought under the notice of the society since tho previous meeting. Tho following subscriptions wero acknowledged with thanks: — Mosdames D. Nathan and T. C. Williams, and Dr. Hay, £1 Is. each; Mrs. Rhodes, £1; Messrs. Baker Bros, 10s. 6d.; Mr. 6. Allport, 10s.; and Mrs. H. Blundell, Miss .Maclean, Mr. J. G. W. Reid, and Mr. A. Dunn, ss. each.
