TO CLEAN BATHS.

.. lii these days a bath is considered a necessity, . not ,a luxury, as it was in . time past (says-a Scottish paper), and no'new house is deemed: complete without a bathroom well fitted.- And. yet we havo it on tho authority of ;,the writer, of: those delightful' reminiscences, Lady Dorothy Neville, that she con-, sidered people aro no cleaner now when they lie and soak in a big . bath than they were in former.'days''when a small bath: had to content them, only in place of the soaking there ivas'a good'and thorough rubbing with flannel and soap—and I daresay there is much in this contention.' But baths of any kind need care. Nothing is less.inviting than a marked, grimy bath; and yet enamelled baths want care'in cleaning else you will soon wear off the enamel, ana then the water will readily leave .a. 'deposit" on, the .roughened' surface.. This is a good plan to clean and yet not damage Soak a rag in paraffin and go over the batluwit-h it, rubbing the. paraffin well in.' This Will remove all grease and dirt. Then half-fill tho bath with cold water, and lot this stand for five minutes or so to absorb all smell of the oil. Finally, wash out with soapy, warm water and a little soda to remove all trace of the paraffin. This should be done once a .week ( and you will then always have your bath m good condition, and so savo tho\need of a thorough cleaning instead of. using a rough soap, which will damage the enamel. A good douching evory day and then a dry out is also necessary.
