The number of Chinc-so now on the Rand is 21,667. •• j ■ On January 31 there wore 3X,'180 Chinese coolies on s the Itand. During February 30 died, 7 were "struck off tho strength,'.' and 3037 were repatriated; leaving 28,i08 on February 29. The cablegram would indicate that in March, April, and May the number 'of coolies was reduced by G739; so that 'apparently, after allowing for wastage, tho number, of repatriations' averages between 2000 and 3000 a mouth. ■ '
